Come and enjoy one of America’s oldest professional concert bands in the magnificent surroundings of Golden Gate Park.

The Golden Gate Park Band has been playing free public concerts on Sundays in Golden Gate Park continuously since September of 1882. 2014 marks the 132nd year the Golden Gate Park Band (GGPB) has been presenting popular concerts in Golden Gate Park. GGPB is one of the last big-city outdoor bands to present a full season of entertainment. The Band is a professional organization; all members belong to the American Federation of Musicians Union Local #6.
GGPB presents a large variety of music which includes classical transcriptions, original works for concert band, Broadway show selections, as well as opera and marches. GGPB can turn itself into a swing band in an instant! In addition, a number of our concerts feature ethnic and artistic groups from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, who bring to the park their colorful costumes, dance groups, singers, and music.
Our free Sunday afternoon concert season begins April 26, 2014 and continues most Sundays to our season finale on October 12. Concerts begin at 1:00 p.m. and last about two hours. Concerts are performed in our home venue, the Spreckels Temple of Music at the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park.
