Come and enjoy one of America’s oldest professional concert bands in the magnificent surroundings of Golden Gate Park

The Golden Gate Park Band has been playing free public concerts on Sundays in Golden Gate Park continuously since September of 1882. 2016 marks the 134th year the Golden Gate Park Band (GGPB) has presented popular concerts in Golden Gate Park. GGPB is one of the last big-city outdoor bands to present a full season of free concerts to locals and tourists from all over the world. The band is a professional organization; all members are highly skilled members of the American Federation of Musicians Union Local #6
GGPB presents plays a large variety of music that includes classical transcriptions, original works for concert band, Broadway show tunes, as well as opera and classic marches. GGPB can turn itself into a swing band in an instant! In addition, many of our concerts feature ethnic and artistic groups from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, who bring to the park their colorful costumes, dance groups, singers and music. We also feature soloists from within the band and guest artists throughout our season.

Our free Sunday afternoon concert season begins April 17, 2016 and continues most Sundays to our season finale on October 2. Concerts begin at 1:00 p.m. and last about two hours. Concerts are performed in our home venue, the Spreckels Temple of Music at the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park.
